It’s World Hearing Day today, which is a yearly awareness campaigning for hearing care for all. All throughout the world, there are people living with hearing loss, and for many, untreated with no assistance available to them. Being 2021 now, this is unacceptable and wherever you are in the world, the idea of not being able to hear loved ones, the birds, the sea and affecting you every day living, is hard to imagine.

Hearing loss can mean a very isolated life for those affected. It can affect special occasions as well as every day living such as:

  • Talking to loved ones in person or on the phones

  • Celebrating and socialising at parties, weddings and ceremonies

  • Listening to the TV or radio

  • Attending medical appointments or other important appointments

Whatever stage you are at in your life, the ability to hear and communicate is important. It is also something that you should not have to negotiate on. Hearing loss can be easily prevented using preventative measures, but only when these are readily available and are accessible to those affected. If you are struggling with hearing loss, it’s important that you have your hearing checked regularly by a professional.

For many people, they simply ‘put up’ with hearing loss and do not realise the full effect it has on their lives until they seek help. Once they get help, they suddenly wonder how they went on so long like it! Hearing loss can be isolating and affect your wellbeing but having problems with your hearing, doesn’t automatically mean that you need hearing aids for example. You may have wax that needs to removed but you won’t know unless you visit a professional.

If you would like a professional to look after your hearing care, we are here for you. We offer hearing care services throughout Sussex including Polegate and Eastbourne.
